This role typically involves basic bookkeeping, processing financial transactions, and assisting senior accountants with reports and audits.
Key Responsibilities
Recording Financial Transactions: Accurately record day-to-day financial activities, including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments, into the accounting system or general ledger.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Assist with managing accounts payable (processing vendor invoices and ensuring timely payments) and accounts receivable (generating customer invoices and monitoring incoming payments).
Bank and Account Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, credit card statements, and ledgers to identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
Financial Documentation & Filing: Maintain organised and accurate digital and physical financial records, including filing invoices, receipts, and other supporting documents.
Assisting with Reports & Audits: Support senior accountants in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, reports (e.g., profit and loss statements, balance sheets), and budget forecasts. Gather necessary documentation during internal and external audits.
Expense Management: Process and verify employee expense reports and reimbursement applications.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant financial regulations, such as tax laws (GST, TDS, etc.).
Administrative Support: Perform general administrative and clerical duties within the finance department, such as answering calls, responding to emails, and liaising with clients and suppliers regarding payment queries.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: A high school diploma is a minimum requirement, while an associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is often preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in a data entry, bookkeeping, or administrative role within a finance department is beneficial, but entry-level positions are also common.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (including functions like pivot tables and VLOOKUP).
Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, SAP, Xero).
Strong numerical aptitude and data entry accuracy (good 10-key skills).
